Giving perfectionism the boot

Jan 8, 2014

I’m one of those annoying perfectionists who is never quite satisfied. So striving to create something unique and technically amazing every single day feels like a massive burden to me. I tried the 52 project last year and rather than get my creative juices flowing, I found it forced an unnecessary pressure to create.

Whilst I love creating beautiful images, for me the real value of photography lies in the memories it helps to preserve. I feel like photography should be spontaneous and of the moment. So this year in a bid to kick my perfectionism and to value each and every day I started a photo journal using instagram.

Of course my phone photos aren’t going to win any awards; but they’re a way for me to document my year, to value the small things and to make every day count.
