It should have been Carrie and Tom’s wedding day today. After months of working with their venue to make the changes necessary to celebrate with 30 of their closest family and friends, after numbers got reduced to 15 they decided to postpone to 2022. I know this year has been incredibly challenging for Carrie and Tom, and many other couples like them. The stress or postponing, re-organising, putting dreams on hold – it takes it’s toll.
But true love is strong. If this year has done anything, I think it’s brought couples a lot of clarity on what really matters. For those who just want to be legally married, the registry offices are still open. For those who really want to share the occasion with more than 15 people, the time will come… hold strong.

I love that we were able to do their engagement photos at Warley Woods in the summer as planned, and they’ve been able to use them to mark what should have been their wedding day.

I’ve written and rewritten the intro to this post so many times… so I’m just going to stop and say how I feel… I feel so incredibly blessed.
I’ve never actually sat now and done a round up post before, but I’m so glad I’ve done it for 2015 as it’s really reminded me why I love what I do so much. It’s bloody hard to curate your own work, and select ‘your best’… sometimes as a wedding photographer, you feel the industry pressure to present purely epic shots; and whilst I do love an epic mountain top photo as much as the next Instagram addict, that isn’t really what wedding photography is about, at least not for us. For Ben and I, these shots are why we do what we do… the hugs, the tears, the crazy dance moves. The connection. That’s what we love.
We’re so thankful to each and every one of the couples who invited us to share in their lives for a day. (Seriously guys, we’re so glad we got the chance to know you)…

Nick + Suzanne

A few weeks back I met up with Nick and Suzanne for their engagement shoot in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter. They started the day by choosing their wedding rings and I caught up on all their wonderful wedding plans before getting them in front of the camera. A lot of couples tell me they’re nervous before an engagement shoot, but it’s never as scary as they think. Mostly it’s just about relaxing and interacting with each other so I can catch those little moments that really capture your relationship. I love watching how people ease into a shoot, and really start enjoying it. Luckily we got some amazing light and they both rocked the shoot like pros! I can’t wait for their wedding in May x

Dhikshana + Rich

Ahhh Dhikshana and Rich! He popped the question with a hula hoop so how could she refuse? Not knowing what to do with their special little crisp they treasured it… until deciding it would be romantic to halve it and eat it… word to the wise hula hoops do go stale…

Anyways, a few weeks back we decided to take a walk round Greenwich, to practice some silly faces in the run up the wedding. As you can see Rich is well practiced! We had so much fun (I’m not supposed to have favorites, but if we’re picking winners for engagement shoots this one is up there). Ahh I can’t wait for August!!

Gemma + Ash

Gemma and Ash are just so cute together – childhood sweethearts, you can really see that they’re made for each other. We headed to Trentham Gardens, in Stoke-on-Trent for their pre-wedding engagement shoot. The spring sunshine came out for us, so fingers crossed we get lovely weather for their wedding day too – I can’t wait!

Sarah and Rich are ace, both full of life and laughs. On Saturday we did their pre-wedding shoot at their beautiful home (and I ain’t just saying that, the place is stunning!) I got a little preview of their lives together complete with all the pets… full of laughter and full of love, just the way it should be… I can’t wait for their big day!
