My Nan.

Jun 17, 2013

I got an email today from The Public, saying that they want to exhibit three of my photographs as part of their Summer Exhibition 2013.

I’m delighted that my work’s been selected and it’s all a little bit more special, as the photographs are of my Nan.

My Nan is such a strong woman, it’s hard to think that one day she won’t be with us, but inevitably that day will come. As people get older, they tend to have less photographs taken of them. I’m not sure why that is – maybe people don’t feel there’s anything new to capture, or perhaps people get distracted by the fleeting beauty of youth… Either way, I’m fascinated by my Nan’s on-going strength, and I want to remember her exactly as she is right now.

My Nan’s home is a huge part of her life. Being partially sighted and 88 means that she doesn’t get out much, so capturing her every day life in her home was really important to me.

Here are the three photographs that will be exhibited from 11th July 2013.
