NATURAL NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHY
Newborn photography sessions are all about bringing calm to the chaos which is why I invite you to the calming space of my natural light studio. Time stands still here with sessions around three hours and where baby leads the way. We’ll pause for feeds, nappy changes and take everything at baby’s pace all still while creating those natural newborn moments you’ll adore.
Where to have your photo session…
The studio
My natural light studio in Bearwood, just outside Birmingham, has been purposely designed to create a neutral, natural and minimalist setting for your indoor photo sessions. You can relax knowing you’re in a safe, warm environment and there’s no need to worry about keeping your home clean or tidying up afterwards.
Your home
If you would prefer I can come to your home for the shoot. You don’t need to do a deep clean, just have an area that is tidy and has lots of light. Travel costs may apply depending on location.
I’m a mum, too
I know what it’s like to be the one taking the photos, rather than being in them, (and it’s not just because I’m a photographer)! I have loads of my husband and son, but very few of me in the moment…
I understand the feeling of being caught between wanting to have some professional family photos but also worrying about whether it’s just going to be too much like hard work. A family photography session with me is all about ease and comfort and having a good time together as a family. I want it to be a happy experience for you all, so that when you look at the photos years from now, it’s those memories you’ll be reminded of.

Mums are always the ones capturing the moments of their children’s lives, so this is your permission to be in the photos too.
Here’s what you can expect
I’m all about natural photography and capturing your family in photographs that really reflect who you all are. There’s no dressing baby up in a bunny outfit or getting you to stand in really stiff, staged poses for the camera.
You can expect my artistic eye helping to guide and gently pose you in front of the camera, so I can get the kind of photographs that show you at your best self, something I find is super important for new parents.
You’ll get my calm and patient personality which is always useful when working with little ones. And you get the reassurance that I know what I’m doing when it comes to working with your kids and getting their cooperation. All you need to do is focus on enjoying the session.
FAQ
When should I book?
Ideally when baby is around 1 week old. This means that baby will be still small and sleepy for the photos. Sometimes this isn’t possible though, depending on hospital stays etc so otherwise as soon as possible is best. Ideally get in touch whilst you’re pregnant and we can pencil in a date a week or so after your due date. I always shoot newborn sessions in the morning-generally 10am and on a weekday. Sessions do get booked up quickly so get in touch as soon as you can.
What happens if my child/children don’t cooperate on the day?
It happens! But you should know I’m a Mum to a toddler so I totally understand and there’s zero judgement here. The thing to remember is that the worst thing you can do is get stressed too. So, focus on staying nice and relaxed and let me do the hard work of trying to win them over. I’ve got toys and music in my studio and I’m pretty good at getting a smile! If things really don’t work out, I’ll suggest a re-shoot but I promise this is something I rarely have to do.
Do you pose us?
There is an element of posing in my sessions, but it’s mostly about getting you into a comfortable and flattering position so that you’ll look your absolute best in the photos. For the most part, I work in a very natural and relaxed way, encouraging you to interact with each other. My sessions are definitely not about having you all sitting perfectly and smiling for the camera though.
Do we have to come to your studio or can you come to our home?
I typically prefer to plan family photography sessions within a short distance of my studio in Bearwood, which is just outside Birmingham, but if you’d like me to travel further afield, get in touch and we’ll have a chat about what that involves. Additional time and travel costs may apply.
Are you insured?
Absolutely! I have insurance for my equipment and public liability.
Can you supply prints and framed images?
I can! I work with a professional photography lab that produces really high quality products. A full price list will be supplied.
